BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM) has purchased Scoreloop, a San Francisco based company that mainly recognized for its extensively accepted cross-multi platform social gaming network for Android, Bada and iOS users.
This move from RIM will improve the Waterloo based tech giant’s attempt to incorporate social networking platforms into the applications attributed by its BlackBerry phones and Playbook tablets.
“We’re thrilled that the Scoreloop team is coming on as a part of the BlackBerry Developer team and fetching their proficiency in building social and mutual gaming tool kits for mobile developers to the BlackBerry platform,”
RIM’s vice president of comprehensive association and developer relations, Tyler Lessard, wrote on RIM’s official developer blog.
“We have newly and freshly facilitated our developers to generate social app experiences during our BBM Social Platform and have observed some very ground-breaking applications result from that,” he added.
Chief Executive of Scoreloop, Marc Gumpinger said that his company is excited and in future to function very closely with RIM to help it to incorporate mobile gaming into the BlackBerry platform.
On the other hand, both RIM and Scoreloop bosses desisted from making any comment on the financial terms of the contract.
