From the beginning Indians were always fascinated to have website address on their own mother tongue and want to cherish that too. For example in Hindi 'Mango' is called 'aam' and if there is a seller want to name his/her website address as www.aam.com - but that in Indian regional script.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has given permission to India to register website addresses in seven regional languages such as Hindi, Gujarati, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali and Telugu.
Nevertheless there is some issues related to script as obstacles connecting to managing the scripts are taking time to be resolved, people still have to remain at least six months to be competent to see these website addresses. To start with, the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) is giving out website addresses in Devnagari script - those languages that exercise the Hindi alphabets which consist of languages such as Hindi, Marathi, and Nepali.
Talking of impediments that to mostly originate from the alphabets and the distinctions of their exercise. While those Indian languages which use scripts different from Devanagari itself cause a problem; others which draw on the same Devanagari script create confronts or dispute of a diverse nature. For example, the word Hindi can be written in three different ways even in the Devanagari script. For this reason the problems have to take a pronouncement on whether the entire spellings of a word can be incorporated during a distinct registration or not. Plus, Marathi, Hindi, Konkani, Sanskrit and Nepali have the same Devanagari script; but there are problems with spellings.
There are also confronts as well linking to exercise of keyboards and fonts in regional languages; and above all the computer being used requirements to be attuned. On one occasion the Indian language domain names start screening up, Indian internet users can register their website addresses in Indian scripts like 'dot bharat', which represent India in English called 'dot in'. Even ‘dot Hindu’ for Hindustan will also sound good for India.
ICANN is an international non-profit body that manages allotment of domain names internationally. NIXI facilitates exchange of local internet traffic between ISPs facilitating well-organized exercise of international bandwidth.
